Curves, Slender Lady, Work-out Express and generic circuit centers:
They offer the same programs to all of their members regardless of their health, limitations or fitness needs. Here are some comparisons.
Curves offers no resistance to their machines, no cardiovascular equipment such as treadmills, bikes and elliptical, and no alternate choice of work out equipment such as free weights, body bars, Pilates, Yoga etc. They have a 30 second interval and you must change stations. At most Curves, you must leave after 30 minutes. You must go in a circle in the order which is presented to you with no variance. They have very limited hours of operation. We have found over the years of talking to women the success rate is very low. This is due to the fact the body plateaus in about 6 to 8 weeks. There are no alternate programs available here to get the body going again. The Curves program has been the same for decades. Slender Xpress programs evolve with you and with current science.
Slender Lady and Work-Out Express have machines which offer a variance in resistance, they have free weights and sometimes cardiovascular equipment. Slender Lady has a 45 second interval, Work-Out Express has 60 sec. and you must change stations. At both facilities, everyone is doing the same thing regardless of their fitness level, health or any limitations. The hours of operation vary per owner. Work-Out Express is co-ed. Some facilities offer classes and personal training at an additional fee.
Gyms offer a lot of machines, free weights and stuff. You will enroll, be helped a minimum of three times, and sent on your way. Most women feel frustrated and confused. You may purchase additional help for a price starting at approximately $65- per session or more. Women some times find gyms not successful because they don't know what to do and stick with just the cardio equipment. This type of training will not burn fat effectively on its own, tone muscles or correct injuries or muscular and postural issues. After about 3 months of doing the same thing, most people give up because they don't get the results they expected or they get hurt from doing things incorrectly. At Slender Xpress, if you show up you will get results and do your work-out activities correctly.
Slender Xpress will not allow any of our members to begin a work out with out first completing a fitness assessment. We are looking for muscular and postural imbalances, coordination, neck/shoulder stability, balance, flexibility, and general range of motion.
All of our programs are scientifically based off of numerous studies from American Council of Exercise, National Academy of Sports Medicine, Institute of Medicine, Kaiser Permanente, United States of Health and Human Services and the American College of Sports Medicine. This is why Slender Xpress is the number one subscribed program by doctors for women.
After the medical & fitness assessment a Slender Xpress nationally certified trainer will create a program specifically for that person regardless of her age, (minimum age to start- 9 years old) limitations, injuries, fitness level and goals. If we have any questions, we will contact your doctor.
Our members may come in at any time, Monday - Friday 7am to 7 pm and Saturdays 8am to 1pm. We are closed major holidays and Sundays, the Lords day. Some locations have extended hours, so please call your studio for details. No appointments or class schedules makes it more realistic for working women and moms. Everytime you come in to do your personalized program, you will be under the supervision of a certified trainer at no additional cost to guide, encourage and answer all of your questions so you wont feel intimidated, avoid injury and you will finally be successful! At Slender Xpress, every one goes at their own pace and gets the education they need to live healthier, happier lives!
Slender Xpress offers One-On-One personal training sessions for an additional fee:
We use a combination of adjustable hydraulic machines, functional movements, Pilates, stretching, dumb bells, body bars, Swiss balls, medicine balls, treadmills, elliptical, recumbent bikes, cables and bands. This type of training is very successful because it is the only program that stimulates the entire kinetic chain of motion. This means we are working the nervous system, muscular system and skeletal system all at once on all three planes of motion! You will be integrating strength, core work, stability, cardiovascular endurance and balance with each visit. Movements and time depends on the individuals needs, fitness level and limitations. We interchange between seven different interval times to increase your results and keep the nervous system healthy and acclimated to real life functional movements so you are less likely to be injured doing everyday tasks. Our members usually notice results in their first four weeks, coming a minimum of 3 times per week, at least 15 minutes per training session.

Got Kids? We do not offer day care. Although, if you have children, bring them in! As long as they do not enter the work out floor & are well behaved they are more then welcome to color or play games! The children's area is within arms reach & eyesight of the workout floor at all times.
Don't feel comfortable getting started? We will walk you through it all. Step by step! Our facilities are very small and private. Its not scary.
